Good Vision In The Classroom

It's been a great summer and it's difficult to believe it's almost over. Parents everywhere are going shopping for bags and books, making sure their kids have everything they need for the upcoming school year. It's also a wonderful time to take your child in for a proper eye exam.

About 80 percent of school-based learning is accomplished with the use of a child's eyes. But even with this overt connection between eyesight and learning, a lot of people seem to be unaware of this, and as a result, don't get their child's eyes examined regularly. As your kid's vision may change frequently, regular eye care is crucial to their classroom success and self esteem.

As children go through school, it becomes increasingly important to keep tabs on their vision.

Struggling to meet the visual demands of schoolwork may potentially change his/her performance. Recently developed classroom technology, like interactive whiteboards, can even exacerbate previously hidden vision problems. If a child doesn't have good enough vision, it isn't just their performance at school that is affected. It's mentally and emotionally taxing also.

If your son or daughter has already been fitted for glasses, the start of the school year is a perfect time to consider getting a new pair of frames. The more your child enjoys wearing his or her glasses, the more likely it is that he/she will wear them.

So be sure to stop by to see us when you're getting your children all ready for their year. We'll do our very best to help your child commence the new school year with their vision in check.
